overheard on the street (actually on the very block in the photo)



#1. 11:30 a.m. West 11th Street

A young light-skinned woman to an older couple:
"I really haven't kept in touch with many brown people."

It threw me off step until i realized i'd applied my poor capitalization tendencies.



#2. 2:00 p.m. West 12th Street

A youngish guy in blue jeans and a casually baggy black leather jacket (think "member's only", not james dean) to a young woman, similarly casually dressed. Very earnestly:

"So we've got to raise a billion dollars."


I love going to church in the village.
