white // confessions

there is something holy in the hush of falling snow
there is certain satisfaction in its crunch beneath my steps

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

confession #1: I Love Times Square. I really do. Crossing Broadway the other night on 54th street, i looked left and there was its otherworldly glow proclaiming...
after the show i strode down Broadway to the train station at 42nd street. I love knowing where i'm going. I love passing the gaping guests who are wondering which way is 50th, which way is 7th Ave (i have long since stopped trying to help them. there are too many, and it really is impossible to be lost in times square). There are dozens of languages of awe being cast into the chaos. And i weave through them, like traffic, like a game of human tetris, smiling.

confession #2: I no longer do my own laundry. It's sort of like becoming a Christian? Can i make it a spiritual exercise by saying that? No? Well, the reality is this: our "close" laundromat (a 4 block walk away) closed. Now, the nearest laundromat is 4 blocks and up and down a hill away. and it's smaller and it's more crowded because all of us who went to the other laundromat are there. But it's good news for the drop-off laundry service, because now they have me, my roommate and our housemates upstairs for clientèle, and i'm sure a good many more. If you do it once, you never go back...do you know how long it's been since i didn't do my own laundry?? Mom, i would give you back-pay. It is SO WORTH IT.

sorry. they weren't that juicy.

  • I will do whatever I can to render that service needless for you. I'm not making any promises, though!

  • i'm so jealous of your drop off laundry service. do you think if i just threw all my laundry into the basement a mysterious laundry service would appear? wishful thinking, i know. but wouldn't it be nice? (long dramatic pause including a dazed look and sigh)

    i agree with dawn. i live vicariously through you too.

  • Having just spent time with Cecilia Brie walking through Times Square, I'd have to say that it's a pretty special place. =) I won't get tired of it anytime soon!
