beautiful things

1. "BQE" by Sufjan Stevens.
The New York Times review describes it well. i am somewhat surprised but also delighted that there is no mention of the blatantly Christian lyrics, which i cannot find anywhere right now, but included words like "lord" and "hallelujah."

His female back-up singer was Shara Worden (aka My Brightest Diamond), who is a good friend of my friends Jon & Amelia Parker. It was really awesome to see her dressed in metallic pointy punk boots & leggings rocking on this new york stage to an enormous sold-out crowd. It was all kinds of beautiful. Other people have written lots of things about it, and i'll let you read what they had to say.

2. The night at BAM was my first date with my friend Ed Tschoepe. It was the best first date i've ever had, and i hope it will be my last.
