I signed up a few weeks ago to get the Austin American-Statesman online. I've enjoyed getting the headlines of what's happening in the city that has a third of my heart (along with NYC and Asheville).

The sad news today is that my favorite restaurant, Mother's Cafe & Garden, burned early Wednesday morning. The kitchen is unharmed, but the garden, which was one of the jewel spots in the city for me, is a total loss. C'est la vie.

As T.S. Eliot has proclaimed,
